I just wanted to know how much this would help when applying to schools, my other stuff is pretty good to,

2000 sat
rock climbing for all my life
visually impaired
from wyoming (diversity)

i think it’s a nice little line to add to your resume,
but i doubt that it’s going to make a huge difference; i mean,
universities are not going to accept you b/c you were in the debate team.
the conventional/cliched list of the most important factors are:
1 gpa
2.sat
3.extracurricular
4.essays
sat seems to be a bit on the low side though, if you are planning to
apply to the more competitive colleges.

What happens in typical meetings, what do you do to prepare for debates, (etc.)? I know how to debate I’m just not sure how to run a debate club.

I believe that everyone should find topics to debate on (economy, should it be illegal to have abortions, debate on a book like Culmbine by Dave Cullen "Who’s at fault for the shooting? Why? Give support to your statement") and in a meetings read out the topics and decide the topic for the next meeting and by that time "to prepare for it" they should chose their side and gather accurate information to support the side they learned towards. To make it more fun you should organize competitions like a team against the others and whichever team defended their opinion better wins like idk points? High school kids are strangely competitive and i don’t think its necessary to have an actual "prize" because just seeing us win was enough whenever my classes did debates or Socratic seminars XD I advise you to have a teacher help you with a club (english or history teacher would be best i think) to help you run the club because i bet they would have good ideas to make the club more challenging :P haha sorry hope this helps some ^_^

Depends what your goals are. If you’re going to just debate local schools, little to zero. If you want to participate in county/state/national/international competition, obviously a lot more. Travel to debates is probably the whole expense – if the school supports you with space, and you’re happy to debate yourselves, it’s free of course.

His speeches are toneless and his delivery jerky and pompous.

NO credit to Obie for that wonderful speech.And listen to this, at last weeks DNC, Obama claimed he’s created 2.1 million jobs in the past15 months, the crowd (all Dems) erupted in laughter, and the original transcript included the word laughter, describing the crowd’s reaction.conservative bloggers posted the original,and the White -House immediately released their new improved version, changing the word laughter, to applause, hoping to fool us all I suppose Google " White-House Doctors Its Own Web Site, Changing Laughter to Applause" Lets all make sure we have the last laugh , on Obie ! I was wondering who was the topic space topic author for the 2011 – 2012 Resolution. The resolution is: The United States federal government should substantially increase its exploration and/or development of space beyond the Earth’s mesosphere.

Not sure who wrote it, but it will definitely make for an interesting season. There are going to be a ton of spending DAs. I can already see it. I do policy in Missouri. Next year will be my fourth year.
