log, bin laden? …
log, bin laden? watch brasschecktv’s david frost interview of benizar bhutto, who stated unequivocally that paki, chinese and japanese inteligence received reports that bin laden had been killed in the tora bora campaign. then watch the post torabora bin laden video clips..it’s not the same bin laden. watch brasschecktv’s “fabled enemies”. bin laden denied involvement in 9/11. why should we doubt his word? that he was an enemy of the u.s. doesn’t mean he was dishonest.
What exactly is the …
What exactly is the main point of your comment? I guess I just don’t see the focus.
what is the usa …
what is the usa doing there (btw….) looking for binladen??? this is the only question…
but you smart guys are talking about money… how much will it cost, can you afford it? how will obama deal with it? get out off that country, mind your own businesses (financial crises at home) remove “patriot act”.. don`t let the elite brainwash you and take away your liberties…
Seeking a military …
Seeking a military solution while leaving the nation as one of the poorest is stupidity in action. If they are struggling to survive and we are making that even harder, they have a common enemy – us. If instead, we were contributing to bring them out of poverty, without profiteering on that, we might find a less deaf ear to our diplomacy.
David seems to have …
David seems to have won this debate. Islam. If we didn’t know that the Muslims in the Taliban would kill homosexuals, adulterers, and sponsor terror against the US it might be safe to allow them to control Afghanistan, but when Jason allows for an extremist Islamic government as an acceptable result for them he leaves any chance of his arguments being taken seriously aside.
That being said, I would like to leave Afg. soon. I’d like to leave it in the hands of a powerful secular govt.
david is a junkie.. …
david is a junkie….lol…but i guess most of the anglos are..!
david atkins: “win …
david atkins: “win this thing” haahahah
graces11 you’re …
graces11 you’re absolutely right that we must stop using these drones as they do show insolence and cowardice that would be an extreme insult/threat in the eyes of any group of people in the path of those trajectories. Also they add to the war debris and waste already covering much of the landscape in that area. I don’t think we’ll get anywhere with diplomacy regarding the Taliban and it is our responsibility to deal with that threat we cultivated, but a better solution may come via diplomacy.
Leaving the troops …
Leaving the troops in Afghanistan, and especially escalating the surge, is more likely to cost Obama his whole career than would pulling out cost him the 2012 election. If this war escalates, and it probably will, into a very dangerous and bloody mistake similar to Vietnam or Iraq now, then it is likely Obama will just not run again. Look at what happened with L.B.J. and Bob McNamara, the conscience is powerful, especially in minds like Obama’s. He’s no fool, and if it slips out of his hands?
graces11 why would …
graces11 why would we negotiate with the Taliban? That’s ridiculous at this point. They won’t negotiate with us, and that’s ok. It is not as though there aren’t plenty of other bands of warlords who can assume control. The reason they really want to keep the Taliban out is that the U.S. doesn’t want a handful of affirmative lunatics, we know because we fostered and nurtured their lunacy, controlling any portion of the TAPI or IPI, or any other, gas/oil pipeline system. The U.S. wants control.
man, this crusades …
man, this crusades are sure expensive. You know who is running the show though…the before pirates of skull and bone.
Atkins: Really?? …
Atkins: Really?? Another 200 to 300 BILLION of deficit spending won’t matter?
Of course it matters amd moreover this is a war of choice now and a 55% approval will only shrink.
No one is going to say rah rah war yeah go……hell no!!
The Taleban is NOT …
The Taleban is NOT Al Qaeda. We will one day negotiate with them and could today. ie women and education.
The only reason I don’t think we should pull back now is b/c it would be used against Obama in 2012.
We must stop alienating the Central Asians w/this use of drones. Their use is inexcusable and cowardly.
Stabilize Afghanistan thru diplomacy..period.
the war in …
the war in afganistan is about building a pipeline from the trashkanistans to siphon off oil/gaz before russians or chinese get it. that’s why beijing now funds pakistan’s ISI and arm the taliban thru iran and why russia invaded georgia.
the taliban were guilty of demanding too high a cut as royalties on the pipeline and became the new u.s. “bogeyman”. karzai is a former unical exec but he’s too corrupt to work with.
it’s said the opium trade is worth $250-300B a yr. the taliban eradicated opium
Bring different …
Bring different political activist from every ethnic group in Afghanistan and have this debate then you will know the real reasons behind the problems of Afghanistan. Afghanistan needs a fedral governament, that is the only alternative right now by changing its name. Good Luck
