The Doha Debates session debating the House’s belief that Muslim women should be free to marry anyone they choose.
For the motion are Asra Nomani from America and Muhammad Habash from Syria. Against the motion are Thuraya Al Arrayed from Saudi Arabia and Yasir Qadhi, American Muslim cleric and instructor for AlMaghrib Institute.
The debate was the fifth and final of the 2008-2009 year, filmed on May 25th, 2009 in Qatar.

It is no wonder why the muslim ummah is in this devastating state. So many muslim don’t even know their own religion. The motion side is far too extreme of freedom. whist the other side is balance as to give freedom but also have its boundaries. The title of the …
The title of the motion is not Quranic. Any motion within any law must be within the boundaries of that law. The motion was directed against the Quran, for it was to abrogate the Quran. Mr. Qadhi started with a right statement but he deviated from the Quran. Let alone he has no legal knowledge he also had no real Quranic knowledge to represent Islam. Neither side supported their position by citing the Quran. Therefore, the whole discussion must be thrown out and the vote too for its not Quranic

Who knows to answer this question? “Is The Honorable Prophet Mohammad Sunni or Shi’ah?” I dare any one to answer this very important question from the QURAN. Did any one question his or her father why he/she is Sunni or Shi’ah? On the one hand i agree miss Nomani is biased, i am as well. On the other we can’t control who we fall in love with, we don’t chose, it chooses us. “there is no complusion in religion.” there is no comma with that statement. also the term “unbelivers” has historically not refered to ahl al-kitaab, but rather polythesists and atheists. the verse is taken completly out of context.

Asra’s going stupid in there. But her question to Qadhi.. what if a daughter rightly educated regarding Islam and Marriage, still got nuts some time and desires for a marrige with non muslim?And convincing her gets impossible?? Maybe when she goes in blind love with a non muslim??

According to Islam, family is an institution where the wife is the secretary and the husband the president (Both having their own equally significant roles to play). In such a context, the president got to the man of Truth, giving the right freedom to his wife, irrespective of her religion and beliefs. In case of a Non Muslim husband, this cannot be guaranteed.

Love is like a egg which gets cooked with a little heat and is good for breakfast. One still has the afternoon and evening meals to deal with.
Is the man you are about to marry capable enough to provide you all the three meals.
Meals here does not just apply to food but other necessities of life and relations.

How is it that a Muslim man can marry a Christian woman and not vice versa.
A Muslim women might be more will to marry out of her faith because of the fear of have 3 other women share her hubbi as a man can have upto 4 wifes in Islam.
Men in Islam will always have the freedom of marrying a Christian/Jews lady since the Prophet had a Jew and a Christian wife. I am not sure if the Christian wife ever converted to Islam.
