    @BUCK3Y34991 Nixon was a pretty good president actually.

  4. Why was he not a …
    Why was he not a good president? Do you know any facts? Why don’t you ask your uncle? Maybe he can tell you.

  5. I honestly felt …
    I honestly felt sorry for Mr. Carter while I watched this debate. I don’t wish to shame him, but I do feel that he may have been the wrong man for the job. It almost seemed as if Mr. Reagan had been the incumbent president, and Mr. Carter was the challenger, with Mr. Reagan’s knowledge and conviction of his own policies.

  7. Im a Democrat and …
    Im a Democrat and wasn’t alive during the Reagan years, i have talks with a lot of my relatives saying he wasnt a good president and that may be true. But one thing i’ll give him while watching his speeches is he was very confident when speaking which gives the people confidence, Carter sounded very timid when he spoke.

    I’m a born again Reagan myself :D

    Thank you for posting this! I’ve been looking for decades for a rerun of this but without success, in either video or audio. I heard this on the car radio as a young teen, and never since till now.

  10. @dylansdad65 ..Do …
    @dylansdad65 ..Do you feel safe now under this new President? He said Iran does not pose a threat to the US…he said this country is “tiny”.

    It’s …

    @ObamaLiberal
    It’s virtually to study every single president effectively.
    Your only reason why Reagan was not a great president is because congress was center-right at that time underneath these problems. You’re entitled to your opinions whether who was or was not a great president but that is definitely not a good answer to why you don’t like Reagan.

  12. I like both lincoln …
    I like both lincoln and reagan.

    lincoln in mind made everyone free setting the foundation for america’s prosperity.

    Reagan is the “idea” president. Reagan is the best representation of how powerful ideas can be. The simple idea of “small goverment, freedom, strong military” propelled America past every nation in the world. Wow!

  13. I was only a …
    I was only a sophomore in high school during this time but I truly remember not feeling safe under the watch of Carter, especially the way he was handling the Iran hostage situation. It’s amazing how young someone can be and still read someone’s character. I felt relief when Reagan over. I definitely felt safer, like a father who you know won’t let anything bad happen to you and has your best interest in mind. I miss that in a president. Haven’t seen it in quite a while.

    The …
    @jon122569

    The entire question coming into the debate was whether Reagan was crazy. Reagan during this debate was cool and calm, and millions of Americans watched him on television and said to themselves, “Hey, he’s not crazy after all”. And they voted him in.

  15. @ObamaLiberal

    I, …
    @ObamaLiberal

    I, too, have studied all the presidents. I would rate Reagan as good. Top twenty in ranking if asked. I think that his image of strength and steadiness helped him a lot in creating the legacy that he has today. Moreso than the tax cuts, the defense budget, the spending, he was a true patriot and made us feel good to be Americans again, which we didn’t under Ford and Carter.

  16. I am a democrate. …
    I am a democrate. But reagan was upbeat and positive while carter never smiled and looked like he was headed for the death chamber. Reagan cleaned his clock.

  17. Amazing. Almost 30 …
    Amazing. Almost 30 years later (2010) we are still worrying about the same issues discussed in the debate. Oil dependence, Iran/Iraq and terrorist, economic inflation and unemployment.

    Regan fixed many of the problems discussed using conservative ideologies. Many of the ideas and policies adopted by Carter which contributed to many of the issues in the first place is being adopted today.

  18. Reagan was not a …
    Reagan was not a great president I have studied all 43 of them and yes I know President Obama is the 44th President, but actually only 43 men have been President Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive as our 22nd and 24th president for those who do not know. Now, Reagan came President in 1981 at a time when the US was having domestic and foreign problems and at that time the Republicans controlled the US Senate and the House was controlled by Democrats, but they were very conservative….

    @ciccone39 Reagan wasnt controlled by the global elite, i can say johnson was, nixon wasnt, carter was, reagan no, bush hw maybe, clinton yes, george w maybe

    reagan was the best …
    reagan was the best president of second half of the 20th century up to now. possibly even more.

  21. Reagan owns
    Reagan owns

  22. What’s the big deal …
    What’s the big deal who won this debate and became president? All presidents are puppets. Plain and simple. The last “real” leader this country had that actually had a conscience and listened to it when it came to making decisions was Kennedy. Reagan-nice guy, great optimist-still controlled by the global elite like every other president beginning with LBJ.

  23. Just watchin this …
    Just watchin this shows me why Reagan killed Carter in the election that year. I think Carter was trying to be a nice guy and please everybody in a job that its simply impossible to do that and keep our country strong. I give alot of credit to Carter for what hes done AFTER he was out of office, but Reagan was BY FAR the better leader if not one of the best we have ever had…
