Why is it that Republicans are always trying to lower expectations for participants in debates?

Remember when everyone patted George W Bush on the back for showing up sober to the debates with Al Gore?
Now all Sarah Palin has to do to win the debate tomorrow is not be retarded.
Is that fair?

When you have low standards, your expectations will always be met.
The anti-intellectualism/ anti-science/ anti-reason wing of the Republican party is going to disappear for a very long time.

  7. Sorry…I don’t think Sarah Palin could even manage to not show up to the debate as a reflection of her "retard" self.

  8. They lower the expectations so they don’t look stupid and you don’t expect much out of them. Remember, only the upper crust of the Republican Party has an education. So, if the candidate don’t get cross eyed after a question, is a political genius. That’s how W got elected, appealing to the uneducated masses.
