Political topics for debate: High School Politics Club?

What are some good topics that are being debated on right now?
Republican vs democrat mainly

Its a republican club, but we need some good discussion starters!

1. What is the best way to jump start an economy, higher taxes for the working people, or tax breaks for everyone?

2. Can a Government be the perfect "Nanny" to those who don’t want to work and let the state take care of them or do people need to be responsible for their actions or lack of action??

3. When it comes to terrorism, should we be on the defense or be on the offense??

  7. Go with social issues such as abortion, capital punishment, and gay rights.

I highly doubt high-schoolers could have a substantive debate about more complex issues that deal with economic and foreign policy. No offense, though.
