When will Republicans field a Presidential candidate that can actually win a high school debate?

Mccain nope
W. Bush nope
Palin nope
Jindal nope
Romney Republicans won’t nominate him
Huckabee nope
Jeb Bush: Haven’t heard him really speak but I don’t think he would
Certainly not Meg Whitman
The Virginia guy forgot his name might have a chance.
Obama toasted about 50 Republicans in that debate.

To be fair, some of the Republican candidates in 2008 were pretty good debaters. I thought Romney came off pretty well. I really liked Huckabee–I mean I disagree with his politics and his agenda, but he comes off as a good guy, smart enough, good self-deprecating sense of humor, etc.

Also consider that whoever the party leaders pick, he will get hours and hours of training and preparation. He might even wear an earpiece, like Bush did, so they can feed him lines.

Plus the ‘debates’ are not really debates, they are really no more than joint press conferences. Remember Sarah Palin up against Joe Biden? How hard would it be to win a debate from Joe Biden? Sarah actually said at one point ‘I’m not here to answer your questions’, and then went on with the four talking points they had laboriously made her memorize. Showing she obviously didn’t understand what debates were all about to begin with. 8^)

Whoever the Repubs come up with, he will spew the standard Republican line. He’ll compare himself to Reagan, he’ll promise to balance the budget and ban abortion and all the things Republican voters like. He can take advantage of Republicans’ short memories–for instance apparently most Republicans have already forgotten that the last three Republican presidents, once they actually got elected, totally ignored their promises.

When will liberals actually field a president that can do and not just talk? One of 100 issues……

Spends 27 of 56 days golfing during the oil disaster. On day 57 makes the first public statement bashing everyone else for not doing their job. What fool in the country supports this man? Apparently this poster does,…. even with all his add on comments. The sad thing…..he’s too self absorbed in bama idle worship to see how rediculous he sounds.

  9. So let me get this straight, as long as a candidate can debate they are good? Who cares about a debate, a person who excels at debate could be the biggest liar in the world. They could convince you of anything and you would believe it. I want someone who is honest not one that can just trick the masses into voting for them like Obama did.

McCain isn’t the best speaker, that lost him his debates against Mr. Obama
George W. Bush didn’t really need to know because Gore and Kerry sucked at debates
Sarah Palin actually won her debates against Biden
Bobby Jindal doesn’t seem too bad, I would give him more time to prove himself
I’ve never heard Mr. Romney speak so I have no opinion on his abilities.
Mr. Huckabee isn’t too awfully bad at debates either.

Your argument is colored by your own perspective of these individuals. I suggest allowing for other opinions, especially those that do go against your own narrow minded views, before you completely count out any Republican figures. Needless to say by your own logic you in fact would not win a high school debate either.

  13. It does appear you continue to take the bait. I agree Obama is a GREAT speaker, probably one of the best we have ever had. Having said that, the true test for any person is, not what they say, but what they do. As has been said for decades, "Talk is Cheap". So, what happened to debates on bills being aired on C-Span? That was his WORD. What happened to transparency? That was his WORD. What happened to Bi-Partisanship? That was his WORD. What happened to his Budget Neutral Health Care? That was his WORD. What happen to quickly ending the war and bringing troops home? That was his WORD. HE visited Cape Canaveral and told the people he was for them and their jobs. What happened? That was his WORD. He said he would not raise taxes on middle America "One Dime". What happened? That was his WORD. Need more? As I said a Man is what he does, Not what he says.

Do they really need to? They’ll be running against a man who has already established himself as the worst president in US history. A man who must certainly be in consideration for the worst leader in human history…

You could run the love child of Satan and Hitler against him and win..
