Teachers can make homework optional, by placing the emphasis of their grades on projects and tests that can be completed in the classroom. Those students that are doing poorly will need to continue doing the homework to raise their grades.

We have homework because students rarely remember the information they learn in class, without a chance to practice what they have learned…find a way around that, and you have a bulletproof arguement =)
