I have my english exam coming up and for the life of me I cant think of a topic that would keep people interested and to get others to oppose my topic and create a great debate atmosphere?
Depends. Do you have balls for debate or do you just want to make everyone uncomfortable?
There are topics like:
Should child marriages be legalized as the population is getting older and sperm and egg count is decreasing….
Should marijuana and other highs be legalized….
Should the marriage age of gays be increased as most are confused teenagers….
etc etc.. your not going to get much of a view across but it can be fun to debate.
In English we have to write a argument essay and we get to pick our own topic. I have some debate ideas but they are to heavy for this. They need to be light so you could add humor or a personal experience or something like that to it. The example the teacher gave was should there really be a black Friday shopping spree? It’s quite dangerous.

Hm. How about school stuff-like school uniforms, lunches, recess for kids (should we have it or take it out) or art/music in schools.
Perhaps violence in the media/video games and why we should leave it in/take it out. Maybe you could cover the rating system and if it’s any good.
Driving? Maybe the legal driving age- or legal drinking age- if it should be lower or higher.
Computers/internet? How much should be used
How about ages kids should/can have cell phones. Or wear makeup or go on dates.
Chores/working? Jobs? you could cover minimum wage or how long teens can work (I think there’s a max/curfew for teens under 17 or something)
How about animal shelters- should animals be euthanize, yay or nay and why?

Well if you are affirmative you have to debate over why health professions online are a way to solve the heathcare workforce shortage.
If you are on the negative then you have to debate over why it is NOT the best way and find better ways for the shortage.

They toss soft balls to silver tongued Romney and ask Perry challenging questions to make him look bad. They won’t give other good candidates like Ron Paul any shots. It is crooked. Why are they allowed to even host a debate ? Why is their not an uproar ? Debates must be fair or otherwise why even have them ? I call on Ron Paul, Herman Cain, and Michelle Bachman to boycott the next debate to protest this circus act.
They have their own personal agendas, of course. Never look to them for fair and unbiased material.
Plus, it’s Republicans. No matter who is nominated, regardless, they’ll be portrayed in the exact same negative light as any other Repub. Look at how much they "liked" McCain.

Debate is not an end in and of itself, it is a necessary step to plan action, The debate club it is to be purposeful and productive should concentrate on issues it can solve and do something about. Here is an idea:
Many tenants are faced with unreasonable demands made by landlords.One of these unreasonable demands commonly made by landlords is the prohibiting of pets in the apartment. The landlord claims property rights to make this ban, however pets are property to even if they have no money value. Pets should have a right to housing just like people, they function as part of the household.

I have to write a congressional debate for english and I can not think of a good topic. I am a sophomore in high school so the topic needs to be appropiate for the age group. I have to have some sort of bill or resolution included in the debate as well. thanks!

A bill to mandate electronic textbook:
- helps reduce the cost of manufacturing textbook
- eco friendly, reduces the need of paper, hence reducing the cost of cutting down trees
- updateable electronic device
- state borad of education could help fund E-books
