It doesn’t really matter about the age of a person debating politics but more the maturity….

there are some people who are in the early teens who definitely should not be discounted because of their age… and at the same time there are some in their 60’s who really shouldn’t be given a hearing…

Yes, everyone should be able to have an opinion and some are more knowledgeable then others but for me, it's the fact that they pay taxes on a full time job and or live and take care of themselves. In other words, being a productive adult fits the bill with me.

I would agree with those saying age isn't a factor, but I do think you need to be independent from your parents before you are capable of understanding many political issues. Money is an intangible thing until you have to deal with it for yourself.

There isn't a concrete age. I think it's once you're actually self-sufficient. Once you've left college and/or the military and start a real job. I feel no particular need to listen to the opinions of smart-mouthed kids who haven't actually worked.

I'll take anyone seriously if they have a grasp of the issues and aren't simply spouting catch phrases. There are a lot of older people out there that are clueless, and just rant their little slogans. Plenty of young people who are well informed.

Age is irrelevant to me. Education, intelligence and literacy are more to the point.

I find that youth are often well-informed, passionate and caring in their politics.

If the current trend of potheads continues though, I might upgrade that opinion.

Age has little to do with it, per se. The question is how much intelligence and education on the issues is required to be taken seriously. Many people grow old and die, and never hit the mark.
