Nixon killed …
Nixon killed Kennedy.
The progressed …
The progressed aggressive tempo and flavor of contemporary debates, are only indicative of the increased American aggression. The grand question is, have we as a nation become richer in barbarity, along with our grown material wealth? Has our increase in the financial column, decreased our civilized spirits? We are a slight war driven nation, yet we don’t like to be tabbed as war mongers. We spend more on military propagation than we do on education. So I ask, what have we become?

first televised debates. they have been having debates back to the times of Washington
Kennedy was not for …
Kennedy was not for freedom he just wanted bigger government. Looking at his plan it was basically just expand the deficit and government and making everyone happy so right after 1968 the next president would be screwed. Also the only reason he won was do to money, mobsters, and pretty boy looks. Nixon had a realistic plan that was better. Also he talks about the federal government getting more involved, but it’s not the Feds job to be involved in these areas.

I hate formal debates, I like the yelling, cussing, and screaming type (but not violent and family-like)
What are you …
What are you talking about. He was shot in the middle of his first administration. Extremists killed him before his term was even up.
True. And all the …
True. And all the people that actually saw him slink and sweat and fidget thought no way.
Having watched at …
Having watched at least two parts of this debate, I argue that it was a fairly decent and polite one, compared to especially the 1988 and 1992 debates. While Kennedy and Nixon disagreed sharply on several issues, they at least tried not to sound vicious or mocking in their comments to each other. Then again, the televised election debates were in their infancy in 1960, even in the U.S.
Kennedy’s speech …
Kennedy’s speech made me think about how we live today. We are STILL facing the same problem, although we seemed to have succeeded with the race issue for the most part. The economy, education, and have you seen the amount of children throwing away their school lunches at school? All those things should never go to waste…We could feed thousands with that food…and yet…we don’t.

Where? I’ve searched the library and it only goes back to January 1979
the exact reason …
the exact reason why so many voted for Kennedy, however the majority of those whom listened to the radio voted Nixon
all three right, …
all three right, why the thumbs down?
the truth must hurt.
hard-working …
hard-working individuals are the future of America not fragmented races. if the current elected officials believe in a strong economy, then why is the dollar worth less now than it was 10 days ago? furthermore, why is the national debt more than $12Trillion ($40,000 per citizen)? and why do we allow them to confiscate our rights one by one?
For those wanting …
For those wanting to see the rest of this first debate or any part of the other three, all are available in their entirety at the CSPAN website video library.
@carpetasrock JFK …
@carpetasrock JFK was in reality a mediocre president at best. He accomplished little domestically and proved ineffective at properly handling foreign policy issues.
JFK became the good president you hear about only after his death. After his assassination, over 70% of the American people claimed to have voted for him in the 1960 election; when in reality far fewer did. One ought not enlarge him in death beyond what he was in life.
To say that Kennedy …
To say that Kennedy was not so bad but Reagen was awful, is telling of what political party you support. They basiclly were both great men who had great ideas. The difference is that Reagen took office in the middle of a mess and left a better country. Kennedy took the office and never got to finish. His ideas were great though.
