  1. Thank heavens JFK …
Thank heavens JFK won, or else this country would have been shamed earlier.

  2. They realized the …
They realized the moral error of their ways.

  3. Image over the word …
Image over the word? More like Image and Word over. . . (shudder). . . Nixon

  4. u can clearly see …
u can clearly see who has class

  5. Right wing …
Right wing extremism and insanity. The stuff Fox, Rush, and Beck feed to the fearful and stupid today.

  6. They became more …
    They became more intelligent.

  7. In that time, all …
In that time, all Hollywood stars were for Republicans. What happened to them now?

  8. May be Barry …
May be Barry Goldwater should be nominate in 1960?

  9. Why do you think …
Why do you think Kennedy was killed?

    Well, I wouldn’t …
Well, I wouldn’t say JFK was the most anti-communist at all. He started out *very* strongly anti-communist, in his campaign and stuff, but later on started doing a whole of reconciliation and diplomacy with the USSR, and later in his term, he was actually harshly criticized and mocked by his opponents for being soft on communism. But otherwise you are totally correct. The reason Nixon is one of my favorite historical characters is because of his contradictions: so brilliant, yet so corrupt.

  11. to STOP THE SPREAD …
to STOP THE SPREAD OF CUMMUNISM IN VIETNAM. I don’t understand people who critisize JFK for Vietnam, he did it for the above reason. (It’s not like JFK did it for the of it) and then realized that it was useless and wanted to pull out (Admitted by Robert Kennedy and Robert McNamara) Then LBJ dramitacally escelades the war “Hey LBJ how many boys have you killed today” Nixon believed that he could actually win the war, but then was pressured to withdraw. Hence why it took him 3 years to do so

  12. Alright you two, …
Alright you two, chill out. Although you might think this is none of my business, this your argument is on youtube, and seing that both grumpytosnowwhite and mantiXcore are civilized in behavior, please allow me to intervene. Nixon: Had one of the Best, if not THE best foreign policy. Ended the Vienam war. THAT’S IT. Kennedy: Prevented nuclear war. Stablilized and improved the economy. Probably the President who was the MOST anti-Commie. Eisenhower started the conflict, JFK warmed it up……..

  13. No, I’m not …
No, I’m not spouting off about anyone. There have been negative things one could say about any president. It’d be better if we could just leave it at that.

    Mmmm…good …
Mmmm…good president. Good president. We seem to have a disagreement on that definition. Well, thank god *you’re* finally sick of arguing too. You had to resort to spouting off about Clinton, hmm? Anyhow, I’m finished with this.

  15. God, man, you just …
God, man, you just don’t know when to stop! I’m really getting sick of this arguing.

“Comparative” is in the dictionary, first of all – look it up. Second of all, no, I am not speculating. That stuff is just fact. I didn’t just make it up. Clinton has a long history of being promiscuous. The speculation, though, is wheather he still does it. It doesn’t matter now, though. The point is, Nixon was still a good president, in spite of his mistakes. Sure, he lied, but so do all people.

  16. grumpytosnowwhite on October 13th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

    Well, IF that is …
Well, IF that is true about Clinton…which has no proof…then yes, of course he is much worse than Nixon, but your speculation is just that–speculation. What we do *know* is that he cheated on his wife, which is a completely personal matter that can’t be compared to Nixon. It’s not “comparative”, how did you come up with that word?

  17. Haha! How did I …
Haha! How did I know you were going to say that? How did I know?

Yes, my friend, I do really believe that. Also, there was more to Clinton than that – he had been seducing and sleeping around with and possibly even raping dozens of women for several years before the 1992 election, and for all we know, he could still be doing it now. The only reason he’s not currently registered as a sex offender is because he’s a slippery eel and a smooth talker. Nixon’s no worse; it’s all comparative.

    You really believe …
You really believe you can compare sexual misconduct to political dirty tricks and lying about military action? Nixon’s thing was not something “negative”, it was all-out despicable. Yes, he could have been one of the greatest presidents ever had he not been so corrupt and morally bankrupt. Of course he should be remembered for his great achievements.. But his faults should never, ever be overshadowed by that. No matter what good he did, things like that can’t be forgiven.

  19. Oh, come on, don’t …
Oh, come on, don’t be ridiculous. It’s definitely not meaningless, and I think you know it. I’ll bet you’d say Clinton was a good president and that what he did can be let go because of how much he achieved. AND, I’d agree with that. Nixon is no different. Every president we’ve elected has had something negative we could associate with him, but Nixon was just unlucky enough to be remembered for his faults rather than his achievements. It’s just spite for the Republican party, nothing else.

    No, it was …
No, it was EISENHOWER who “struck the match”, but we think of Vietnam in retrospect–as though what Eisenhower did was the start of the fiasco of a war. It was not. The Vietnam war was not inevitable at all. Before LBJ, it was a minor thing that caused very few deaths and could have been easily ended. Vietnam as we remember it today is totally LBJ’s fault.

And I’m not one to fault Nixon’s foreign policy, it was one of the greatest, but things like that are meaningless next to his immorality.

  21. Um, actually it …
Um, actually it does. That’s exactly what being a good president is about. Being chief executive is part of the job, too, but it it secondary. It was because of Nixon that we became on good terms with China, which became a major trading partner of ours and helped our economyt massively. No one will deny that Nixon’s foreign policy was one of the greatest, if not the superlative.

And yeah, LBJ was the one who lit the dynamite that was the war, but it was Kennedy who struck the match.

  22. grumpytosnowwhite on October 13th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

    Nope, Eisenhower …
Nope, Eisenhower went into Vietnam, not JFK. JFK did ramp up US “advisors”, but it wasn’t a war–it would never have been a war without the Gulf of Tonkin, which happened under LBJ. Also, the CIA had cooked up the Bay of Pigs long, long before Kennedy was in office, so he just authorized the invasion, which was a mistake to be sure, but not much his fault. Just like the delay in getting out of vietnam wasn’t Nixon’s fault. And doing good stuff doesn’t make you a good man, or president.

  23. Okay, you name me …
Okay, you name me one president we’ve had since Lincoln who wasn’t dishonest at all. That’s just part of American politics.

What do you mean he inherited those things? Kennedy sent us into Vietnam in the first place, and he sent them into Bay of Pigs, too. That was all his doing, no one else’s. Nixon was the one who inherited Vietnam and did what he could to handle it. He was still a good president, and his mistakes do not overshadow it completely, unless you just want to spit him.

  24. grumpytosnowwhite on October 13th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

    When people start …
When people start saying “even though he was dishonest” about a president, you know we’re in trouble. Listen, there is NOTHING that can redeem Nixon for betraying the American people. Nowadays, people seem to expect politicians to cheat them, so they don’t care, as long as they get something out of it. A recipe for disaster.

btw, JFK inherited the Bay of Pigs and Vietnam, and….hmmm….the Peace Corps, shutting down military schemes, Civil Rights, and averting nuclear war come to mind…
