How to Beat a Republican in a Debate Without Knowing the Issues??

It’s amazing. Year after year, Democrats are perceived to have won debates against their Republican opponents, even though they use the same silly canned arguments and buzz phrases. So if you’re a Democrat and want to make a Republican look bad, just memorize the following time-tested debating tricks.

Step1
Because most people in this country aren’t wealthy, keep saying how Republican polices only benefit the "rich."
Step2
Scare senior citizens by telling them that Republicans want to cut their Social Security benefits.
Step3
Even though large corporations provide millions of jobs in the United States, keep insisting that they are out to screw the middle class, and of course, Republicans just so happen to be the biggest supporters of those large corporations.
Step4
Call any Republican tax proposal "a risky tax scheme." You would be surprised how many people will believe it, whether it’s true or not.
Step5
Because most Republicans are against the Federal Department of Education, tell the public that they are "against putting money into education." Of course, this is ridiculous. Republicans simply don’t want a federal bureaucracy having any control over your children’s schooling.
Step6
Scare women by implying that if Roe vs. Wade were overturned, all abortion would be illegal across the entire United States. Of course, this is not true. That decision would be left up to each individual state legislature.

Tips & Warnings
If you’re debating a sharp Republican, there’s a chance that he or she might call you on some of your nonsense, but I wouldn’t worry too much – most Republicans are poor debaters and let their opponents inane statements go unchallenged.

  1. Make sure you use the words hope, future, and change in every sentence. If you’re totally stumped throw in the word racist, bigot, or homophobe too.
